My love is turning 30!!!

I'm so excited... the love of my life; my wonderful David; is turning 30 today! Woo hoo! 30 is a pretty big year and David has really grown this last year. He went from being an employee to a business partner sharing ownership in a automotive shop. He also went from a renter to a home owner.

In honor of his 30th birthday I'm making him one of his favorite meals... my special meatloaf, au grauten potatoes, corn and garlic bread. For dessert I'm making his favorite chocolate chip, peanut butter chip cookies. I'm most excited about giving him his gift.

David is one of those people that will tell me he doesn't "need" anything and that he really doesn't have any unfulfilled wants. I always have to be observant and listen when he's reading

the Sunday paper or sees a comercial on TV or I'd never be able to figure out what to get him. This year I heard him get excited about a Marine Corp pocket watch for his collection so I'm get it for him. I can't wait to see his expression.

As always, for my family and close friends, I made him a handmade birthday card. I got the idea from a Father's Day card I saw in Paper Crafts magazine and adapted it for a birthday.

Well, I gotta head to the store and pick up a few last minute things before he comes home from work. TTYL...

A new way to support our troops

I found a great new way for us paper crafters to help support our troops, CardsforHeroes.org. They help support our troops by sending boxes of handmade blank greeting and note cards that crafters like myself have made. Our troops overseas can't run down to Walgreen's and pick up a birthday card for their child or a 'missing you' card for their spouse or loved one. Cards for Heroes also collects handmade cards and letters that are created specifically for our heroes to thank them for their sacrifice and help uplift their spirits.

I'm really excited to get started with them. I'm all ready working on my first shipment of cards. I've done a few love/missing you cards and I have plans for a couple more. I'm also going to add some birthday cards. I'd like to add both masculine and feminine styles as well as cards for kids and adults. So far all the cards I've made have been traditional paper crafting but I do want to use some of my new patriotic graphics to make a few thank you cards specifically for our heroes.

I'm going to play around this weekend and make a bunch of cards. I'll take some pics of my favorites and post them. Stop by on Monday to see the pics.
